We are pleased to welcome a guest speaker to our Spring talks programme  – this special talk on Ukrainian history is part of our programme of community curated displays.

A representative of “Ukrainian Friends, Stafford” will talk about the story of Ukraine through the centuries and how historical puzzle pieces once again came together into Ilia Repin’s infamous painting “Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks to the Sultan”, that celebrates Ukrainian irreverence, resistance to tyranny and rebellious humour as a national character presented in a real historical document centuries before current events.

Our guest speaker will also touch on the life of the new Ukrainian community in Staffordshire and on the local humanitarian effort.

This talk takes place at the Staffordshire history Centre, 7th March at 1pm. Free, no need to book.

Find out more about the group, their news and events  online here: Ukrainian Friends, Stafford | Facebook

A community case display by Ukrainian Friends Stafford will be on display at the history centre from May 12th.
