- Administrative History: Clayton United Reformed Church was constituted on 4 May 1953, and the first Church Meeting took place on 26 May. It was a daughter church of Hanley Tabernacle Congregational Church (formerly Independent), which later merged in 1965 with Trinity Presbyterian. That new church, called Trinity, and Clayton both became United Reformed Churches in 1972. From 1 January 1987 the Clayton church was amalgamated with Trinity URC Hanley, after the Trinity building became unusable. Some items in this collection relate to Trinity URC and its two Congregational and Presbyterian predecessors. At some point services were held in the hall because the church building was in need of repair. By 2012 a sharing arrangement was in place with Newcastle Baptist Church. The URC church closed in 2013, but the building continued in use as a Baptist church. In 2014 the surviving URC churches in North Staffordshire were at Burslem, Chesterton, Longton, Tomkin, Uttoxeter and Wolstanton.
