- Description: Land for the first school supported by the parish of Wednesfield was conveyed in trust for the purpose of a British School. The foundation stone reads 'National School errected AD 1836 by voluntary subscription'. It operated as the parochial school until the new Wednesfield National Schools were built c1856. Pupils transferred to the National Schools and the old school building ceased to operate as a school. A dispute with the British and Foreign Schools Society arose in 1894 over authority to sell the site.
