- Administrative History: The ecclesiastical parish of Ellastone was created in 1875; it originally included the townships of Calwich, Ramshorn, Wootton and Prestwood as well as Stanton. It had formerly been a chapelry in Alstonefield EP. Its boundary was extended in 1934 when the parish gained Calwich (which with Ramshorn and Wootton had become a separate civil parish in 1866).
