- Description: 1921-1940 (632 files) consists of cases where there was a coroner's inquest. This collection mainly consists of the formal certificate of Inquisition only, but some of the files also contain other notes such as police reports or witness statements, where indicated.
1951, 1953-1962 (205 files) includes files for inquest cases where the verdicts were: murder, suicide, accidental death and misadventure. A full list of individual names is given for 1951, 1953-1955.

The coroners registers (D3256/1-5) provide an index or case listing for 1951-1977. Please ask for further information. - Access Conditions: These records may be subject to exemptions under the Freedom of Information Act because they may include personal information about third parties. Anyone wishing to consult 'access restricted' records should be aware that the closure periods are not necessarily absolute. If you require access to Coroners' records please contact the Archive Service in writing giving the name of the deceased, the date of death or inquest and the location of death or inquest. Minimum of two working days' advance notice is required for production for some files.
