- Administrative History: Seisdon Rural District Council was created in 1894 with the Local Government Act 1894. Its areas of jurisdiction were Bobbington (part 1894 - 95, entire 1895 - 1974);Codsall; Enville; Himley; Kinver; Patshull; Pattingham; Lower Penn; Upper Penn (1894 - 1966); Swindon (1896 - 1974); Trysull and Seisdon; Wombourne (1894 - 1966); Woodford Grange (1894 - 1900); and Wrottesley. Seisdon Rural District was abolished in 1974 with the Local Government Act of 1974, when it was merged with Cannock Rural District to form South Staffordshire District Council. As a public body the functions of Seisdon Rural District Council were sanitation, public health, town planning, education and housing. These functions were carried out by the following committees: Air Raid Precautions and Fire Brigade; Finance and General Purposes; Housing; Housing Area Lettings; Plans Inspection; Town and Country Planning; Public Health; Sewerage; Highways; and Sanitary.

- Description: This is a limited collection of District Council records but it does contain a good series of council minutes (1891-1974), a range of committee minutes (1904-1974), some legal registers kept by the Clerk and Treasurers' records. The Treasurers' records comprise a good series of general accounts, loan accounts, rating records (including water charges ledgers), housing accounts, and some salaries registers. There is also a small series of records from the Surveyor's and Engineer's Department (1 box).
