- Administrative History: Wednesfield Urban District Council was created in 1894 with the Local Government Act 1894. Its area of jurisdiction consisted of Wednesfield. Wednesfield Urban District was abolished in 1966 with Statutory Instrument 1965/223. In 1966, most of Wednesfield Urban District was merged with Wolverhampton County Borough, though some parts were incorporated into Walsall County Borough and South Staffordshire District. As a public body the functions of Wednesfield Urban District Council were sanitation, public health, town planning, education and housing.
