- Description: Rodbaston College's origins lie in 1919 when the War Agricultural Committee opened an agricultural training depot. This was closely followed by the Council's purchase of 583 acres at Rodbaston, part of which was transferred to the Education Committee for a County Farm Institute, initially for the training of ex-servicemen and then from 11 Oct 1921 for pupils. Prior to this agricultural education had been delivered through lectures and practical training held at a variety of locations across the County.
During the Second World War the buildings were used for a time as an auxiliary hospital but after the war the college expanded and in 1947 additional buildings were purchased from the War Agricultural Executive Committee. The Institute was renamed the Staffordshire College of Agriculture in 1967 and in 1994 became independent under the new name of Rodbaston College.
The Principal from 1935 to 1949 was Dr. G H Bates and he was followed by Mr H E Wells, who retired in 1969.
