- Description: [In some older indexes the document reference number to this series has been given as Q/SBl, where 'l' stands for 'later series']
As stated in the notes to the early series (Q/SBe), this has been commenced in 1768 and continues until c1887 when the series ends, subsequent bundles were apparently destroyed. The descriptive contents list was compiled from an examination of the bundles between 1768-1780, and then in 1789 and 1790, 1799 and 1800, 1809, 1810 and so on until 1880.
The contents of the bundles undergoes very considerable expansion and variation of contents, in fact, few of the items which occur in the period 1770-1790, appear a hundred years later and vice-versa.

Animals: Valuations under the Contagious Diseases of Animals Act, 1869 (32 and 33 Vict. c.70), Order of 1875 : Valuation of stock destroyed, with name of farmer and address; c1870-1880.

Appeals, including poor law rates, etc.; miscellaneous papers produced in evidence or as exhibits relating to poor law, removal orders, rates,etc., placed in sub-bundles of 'notices of motion' when these commence; c1770-1860. [See also Q/SPa; Q/SBm]
Acts, Company: Annual state of accounts; mostly public utilities, e.g. gas, water, market, etc.; c 1846-1880. [See also Q/RUa; Q/SBm]
Apprenticeship Indentures, etc: later together with orders for discharge from the same; from 1770. [See also Q/SR]
Articles of the Peace: details of alleged breach with names of those concerned, address and quality or trade, etc.; 1772-1839. [See also Q/SR]
Bonds: possibly in connection with release from actions; normal bond with names, place of abode, trade, etc.; 1771-?c1860.
Briefs, Legal: relating to cases before court; most frequent during second quarter of 19th century; from 1770. [See also Q/SBm; Q/SPp]
Briefs to collect funds, petitions for: petitions, estimates, giving often place, nature and cause of damage, and estimate of repair, etc.; the system was abolished by Act 9 Geo.IV. c.42.; 1770-1828. [See also Q/SR]
Byelaws: copies deposited occasionally possibly under Local Acts or Company Consolidated Clauses Act, (8/9 Vict. c.15); from c1844.
Calendar of Prisoners: printed; with age, offence, verdict, sentence and name of committing justice; later ones also contain Calendar of Assizes, whether literate, etc. from 1770. [See also Q/SPc; Q/SBm]
Circulars: printed; on various subjects received by Justices in form of Proclamations or communications of societies for moral reform. [See also Q/CCg]
Constabulary: Abstract of District Accounts; 1840-?c1856. [See also Q/FAc]
Constabulary: Petitions re establishments, etc. under 2 & 3 Vict. c.93 (1838), 3 & 4 Vict. c.88 (1840); esp. E1844 petitions from West Bromwich et al.; 1839-c1856. [See also Q/ACp]

Convictions returned to Sessions: giving name, abode, occupation, sentence, etc.; at first mainly game and rogues and vagabonds, but early in 19th cent. the classes of crime represented increase, and by the middle of the century they are sorted into a classified order; 1768-?1875. Corn Prices, Returns of, under 10 Geo.III.c.34, Act repealed 31 Geo.III.c.30: weekly prices, from each market; 1776-1790 (?c1795).
Cost, Certificates of: in connection with prosecution, etc.; detailed as to witnesses and general legal expenses; 1809-1840/44. [See also See also Q/FAm 8,9; and for 1844-1851 see Q/SBs]
Counsel, list of : possibly the only occurrence in Mich. 1809. [See also Q/SPa]
Debtors Assignments, Schedules, etc.; giving name, trades, abode, list of affects; numerous papers at beginning, gradually become fewer; by 1820 schedules of property not present; 1769-c1820.
Depositions, Information of cases before Sessions: give evidence of accused, complainant, witnesses; 1769-1847. [See also Q/SBm. Q/SBd]
Dissenters Meeting Houses, registration certificates: give address of place, names of certifier, etc., occasionally denomination;repealed under 1 Wm.& M. c.18, 15-16 Vic.; lists of returns from Diocesan registry under 52 Geo.III.c.155 appear missing, except 1826-1829; (see Mich.1829), 1814 - see list at end Q/SBp. Hemp Bounty: gives claimant and abode, quantity, where grown (including) fields; 1783-1788.

Juries, Excuses from attendance: gives person's name and abode; and name and address of certifier, often doctor or clergy; 1775-1809.

Justices Qualifications: 1. Qualification Oaths under 18 Geo.II c.20 replacing statute of 5 Geo.II: give name, location of property on which qualification based; from 1768. [See also Q/RRo 3.; a few are in Q/SR c.1770-1800]
Justices Qualifications: 2. Certificates of Oaths taken and given under Writs of Dedimus Potestatem under 1 Geo.III c.13, 1 Wm & Mary c.18: gives names of Commissioners and Justice; from c1830.

Letters: A few up to 1800, number increases, but not present in bundles as letter series after c.1820; 1770-1820. [See also Q/CC; Q/SR; Q/SBe; Q/SBm]
Land Tax - Miscellaneous papers: e.g. Lists of deficient returns; lists of land tax districts; [1750-1830].
Lunacy: papers relating to inspection, applications for licences for private asylums, occasional plans, Clerk of Peace Oaths, under 14 Geo. III c.49; from c1776. [See also Q/AIp]
Militia Certificates: Clerk of the Peace certificates and lists relating to militia; series does not continue for more than about 30 years. 1772 order, for raising a fine for non-training of militia. (Under ?Act 9 Geo.III); c1770-1800. [See also Q/ROm]
Mines Drainage: Awards of South Staffordshire Mine Drainage Commissioners; from c1874.
Minutes: Probably a process paper entitled "Call to appear" (c.1772) is embryonic form; but in T. 1779 shape more definite. Considerable expansion in first 20 years, with details of past process, jury [ ]etc., and also indictments, etc., tried, but by mid 1790s, are regularly termed 'minutes'. Possibly separate volumes made for Crown and Nisi Prius courts. For court business, details written out before and decision added later (?at court). From about 1800 further sessions are added for orders of court, etc., From 1811 sometimes filed separately, and by c.1830 almost invariably [See Q/SMl for those filed separately.] 1772-1830.
Officers; e.g. Gaoler, Surveyor, Judges Lodging Housekeepers: papers relating to appointments, resignations, salaries, etc.; ? from 1768. [See also Q/AP: Q/AC: Q/AMw, etc]
Orders: Copies of orders on all manner of topics were filed, but apparently not invariably; during the early 19th cent. they become printed and later less frequent; 1770-?1820. [See also Q/SOp; Q/SOv; Q/SBp]
Papists - Declarations of Priests, Registration of Schoolmasters, Registration of places of worship, under 31 Geo. III c.32, repealed 15 & 16 Vict. c.36; 1791-c1850. [See also Q/RRo 3.; Q/SBm; and see list at end of Q/SBp]

Reports of Committees and Officers: at first occasional; reports or committee minutes such as Judges Lodgings, Lunatic Visiting, from 1810; by 1840 reports relating to Gaol (Surgeon Gaoler, Visiting Committee) Highways and Bridges (Surveyor) and their Finance, Police (Chief Constable) and in 1869 the Auditor, etc. Other ad hoc committees, e.g. militia, stores, may be found, T. 1860.; from 1810. Returning Officer: Appointments of Sheriff as; and of deputies, apparently under 3-4 Wm.IV., c.99: gives name, etc.; 1839-1879.
Rogues and Vagabonds Removal, passes, etc.: Repealed 5 Geo. IV., c.83.; 1768-1835. [See also Q/SR]
Sacrament Certificates under Test Act 25 Chas.II.c.2. (Repealed 9 Geo.IV., c.17.): gives name, place, names of witnesses; 1769-?1827. [See also Q/PRo/1]
