Blog Post Testing

Here’s the first, introductory paragraph that could go above a break and therefore be shown on the main blog landing page. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Donec ultricies urna est, at hendrerit magna gravida at. Aenean in ornare urna. Donec iaculis bibendum nunc, id interdum sem maximus a. Donec convallis massa vel lacus blandit vehicula. Fusce id laoreet elit, non tempus felis. Duis vitae imperdiet risus. Proin id lobortis tortor.

Now we’re below the “read more” break and so we can add a second paragraph of lorem ipsum placeholder text. Quisque vitae elementum nisi, suscipit venenatis metus. Nam sodales eros vitae blandit ullamcorper. Now, let’s insert an image, centre aligned, below this text block and see what happens.

Testing inline bold text to highlight that we might need some padding built into images as this text looks a bit close to the underneath of the image above. More placeholder! Ut aliquam ultrices ipsum, a aliquet dolor accumsan quis. Aliquam elementum felis in elit mollis, eu accumsan quam fringilla. Proin id lobortis tortor. Vestibulum cursus, justo a laoreet ornare, tellus urna tristique justo, in egestas dolor magna ac nunc. Morbi venenatis faucibus hendrerit.

Let’s try aligning an image to the left as a thumbnail, to see what that looks like. With more lipsum to fill the paragraph. Pellentesque arcu libero, tincidunt eget eleifend eu, faucibus sit amet arcu. In hac habitasse platea dictumst.

It’s also possible to use a “Media and Text” block to show text and an image side-by-side, although this is more of a standalone element that you would position between two text blocks, rather than using it within a larger block of text. You can define the width of the two elements (50/50 in this case) and also choose which side the image appears. You can choose to have the image crop and resize automatically, plus choose a focal point that it will position itself around. Although it’s generally a more responsive element, the main difference is that the image isn’t clickable/expandable.

See how different the same block looks with much less text, a switched image position and a 80/20 split?

If two elements aren’t automatically styled to leave a gap between each other, you can insert one using the “Spacer” block. That’s what happened both between the two “Media and Text” blocks and directly above this text block. In each case I inserted a “2rem” sized spacer inbetween.

This “Pullquote” block can be used to emphasise text. It enlarges the font size and adds padding to separate it from surrounding blocks.

Hmmm, the YouTube embed above doesn’t seem to position the video properly when using the align centre option – align left and right work as expected (similar to the thumbnail image in the text block earlier in the post) but centre places it left-aligned with no text overflow.
