A Case for the Ordinary

6 November 2024 to 27 January 2025

Discover the extraordinary history and stories behind the patients, staff and daily life of the county’s three asylums, St Matthew’s (Burntwood), St George’s (Stafford) and St Edward’s (Cheddleton), through our touring exhibition A Case for the Ordinary.

Featuring documents and objects from our archive and museum collections, the exhibition is based on the research undertaken over the past 3 years as part of a Wellcome Trust funded project. This helped us to unlock stories in the records of the county asylums held at Staffordshire Record Office.

There is an excellent ‘A Case for the Ordinary’ project blog where you can find out more about the institutions, themes and individuals. This is available at the following link:  www.staffordshireasylumrecords.wordpress.com
