- Administrative History: Coseley Urban District Council was created in 1894 with the Local Government Act 1894. Its area of jurisdiction consisted of Coseley. Coseley Urban District was abolished in 1966 with the Statutory Instrument 1965/223, when it was split into five parts, transferred to Dudley County Borough, Seisdon Rural District (Himley civil parish), Walsall County Borough, West Bromwich County Borough, Wolverhampton County Borough respectively. As a public body the functions of Coseley Urban District Council were sanitation, public health, town planning, education and housing. These functions were carried out by the following committees: Maternity and Child Welfare Committee; Public Health Committee; Allotments and Horticulture Committee; Parks and Open Spaces Committee; Estates Committee; Civic Resturant Committee; Roads and Lighting Committee; Sewerage Committee; Town Planning and Reconstruction Committee; Transport, Cleansing and Stores Committee; Libraries Committee; Finance and General Purposes Committee; Local Pension Committee; Bye-Laws Committee; House Allocation Committee; Food Control Committee.
